Typography

StridePro is our name for the Barlow configuration we use for STRIDE — a grotesque with real italics that lean forward like the wordmark, built for readability at running speed rather than at rest. It’s not a bespoke typeface; giving our exact weights one name keeps every team asking for the same thing, and it’s free under the SIL Open Font License.

Typeface

Use StridePro for everything we publish, on screen and in print.

StridePro

Italics exist in every weight. Display type leans forward in Bold or ExtraBold Italic; body copy stays upright, with italics only for the odd word of emphasis.

  • ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

    StridePro Bold

Reserve for the loudest headline moments and for emphasis inside Regular body copy. Medium is usually the better default.

  • ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

    abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

    0123456789/!?&@#

    StridePro Medium

Our workhorse for headlines and display text. Bold or Regular are acceptable exceptions.

  • ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

    abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

    0123456789/!?&@#

    StridePro Regular

The default for body copy and small text. Also works for headlines paired with Light body text.

  • ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

    abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

    0123456789/!?&@#

    StridePro Light

An option for body and small text when the setting is roomy. Check readability, and pair it with Regular headlines.

  • ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ

    abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

    0123456789/!?&@#

    StridePro Bold Italic

Headlines and display text lean forward in Bold or ExtraBold Italic.

Headlines

How to set large headlines and display text:

  • Lower-case or title-case.
  • Align left or right; centre only in rare cases.
  • Scale the size to the medium.
  • Keep headlines short.
  • Punctuation is optional.
  • Turn off ligatures.
  • Extra large headline

Body and small texts

The body examples below are set in StridePro Regular and sized for screens; similar sizes work in print.

  • Example 1

Every STRIDE product is built the same way: prototype it, hand it to athletes who train harder than our test protocol expects, and fix whatever they complain about before it ships. We'd rather delay a launch than ask someone to compete in gear that hasn't earned it.

  • Example 2

Every STRIDE product is built the same way: prototype it, hand it to athletes who train harder than our test protocol expects, and fix whatever they complain about before it ships. We'd rather delay a launch than ask someone to compete in gear that hasn't earned it.

  • Example 3

Every STRIDE product is built the same way: prototype it, hand it to athletes who train harder than our test protocol expects, and fix whatever they complain about before it ships. We'd rather delay a launch than ask someone to compete in gear that hasn't earned it.

Sizing cheat sheet

Every screen and medium needs its own sizing. The scale below is a starting point for most desktop layouts, not a fixed spec.

Alternatives

  • Tiempos Text alphabet specimenEditorial body typeface

For printed editorial pieces with long body text, such as a catalogue or lookbook, the serif Tiempos Text may replace StridePro or sit alongside it. Body text only: never headlines, never on screen.

  • Lexend Deca alphabet specimenFallback typeface for Google

Lexend Deca is the stand-in when StridePro isn’t available, for instance in a shared document. Keep it out of advertising and anything premium.

  • Non-Latin languages

Noto Sans is our recommendation wherever StridePro’s language support falls short — Cyrillic, Greek, and CJK markets in particular. Use it directly rather than substituting a Latin-only geometric face; it covers far more of the scripts we actually ship in.
